Mission homes is a digital archive inherited by Uniting Communities from institutions of the South Australian Uniting Church. Most of the archive contains images from Lentara - a home which cared for children on behalf of the Methodist Church. We have digitised our archive making availiable over 1400 photos for those who lived at Lentara and are searching for their history.

On Monday 22 October 2018 the Prime Minister of Australia delivered a National Apology in Parliament House, Canberra to people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse.
This important milestone recognises the long term psychological, physical and emotional impacts of the abuse, and is an important step towards healing. To recognise this significant occasion, the Government of South Australia is hosting a number of events across the state in Adelaide, Whyalla, Berri, Port Pirie, Mount Gambier and Port Augusta. These events are for survivors and their family, friends and support networks.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised that the following web page may contain images of people who have died.
Photos which don’t include children are now publicly available.  If you want to search our archive for your photos as a child please contact us and we will provide you with a login.
